Why we do what we do
Adverse Childhood Experiences
The majority of South African children have been greatly affected by inherited social and economic inequalities. These inequalities have resulted to conditions of poverty, learning disabilities and developmental delays. These and other adverse childhood experiences influence the health and wellbeing of individuals throughout their lifespan. They result in disrupted brain development; social, emotional and cognitive impairment; and the adoption of risk behaviours which ultimately add to the social ills that hold us back from realising a prosperous future.
Our Solution
We believe in the need to mitigate these adverse childhood experiences and their long-term effects on individuals, communities and society at large. Therefore we strive to establish educational and developmental interventions that are initiated early in the life of a child, and span their full educational and growth journey.
Science has proved that the period from birth to six years is the most critical in the development of a human being. During this period the brain develops more rapidly, therefore it is a crucial stage to establish a foundation for good education, health, behaviour and physical growth for the future. Therefore, our purpose is to nurture young minds to be adaptable and to thrive now and into a sustainable future.
